Overall, I am very happy with the usefulness of this backpack, but I am concerned about the quality of this product.

I have a 20-month old toddler and had to ditch the over-one-shoulder diaper bag in favor of a backpack. This backpack is laid out very well:

-I put her sippy cup in the cold pack on the side and my water bottle on the other side.
-My wallet and cell phone are easily accessible in the outside pocket (with the clip).
-I put her diapers, wipes, cream, sunscreen and extra clothes/shoes in the main pocket, which also has smaller pockets for organization.
-There's another easy-access, zippered pocket at the top of the bag where I put chapstick, lipstick and pens.
-The cooler on the bottom is useful, but not a good place to store food that can be crushed because it takes the weight of the entire bag. When I use it, I put food in plastic containers with lids and then throw in a small ice pack to keep everything cool. It's still a handy space, especially if something spills because the mess is contained.

I am giving the Short Haul Sherpa Diaper Backpack 3 out of 5 stars for three reasons:

-The fabric on my backpack tore after only a few weeks' use. The tear is on the top/front of the bag and one inch long. It's not on a seam and does not compromise the integrity of the bag, but it looks bad and it does make me wonder about whether it will last through more than one kid.
-The mesh pockets on the upper sides of the bag are utterly useless. They're too small and not tight enough to hold anything. Toys, keys, and even baby sunglasses don't stay in them.
-The bag arrived with a broken key ring (it's on the inside). It won't clasp. It's not a huge deal, which is why I didn't bother returning it for a new one, but I thought it was important to note.

I bought the Duo because of the easy shoulder to stroller conversion, and would never get a different bag! I ended up with the orange (as it matches my Inglesina Zippy stroller), and love the functional outside pockets. I always know where my cell phone is, and the 'bottle' pouch is adjustable so that it can securely carry a water bottle, skinny 4 oz, or wide neck 8 oz bottle. I like the two zippered compartments on top for my 'valuables'-- the only criticism I have is the velcro closure of the large area. My cloth diaper case always gets snagged on it-- but, I guess, I could easily NOT carry my cloth case and get something else.

First, it arrived with a strange chemical smell, a smell that did not go away after a few days after being removed from plastic wrap. My second issue is with the side elastic: I placed my son's 7 oz. Playtex sippy in the side bottle holder (which is pretty short for most bottles and sippies) and within an HOUR the side elastic started to give out and snap, started to unravel. Very disappointed. Third, the changing pad is very short - probably best for kids under 9 months. Fourth, the bag was heavier than expected, which wasn't a huge issue because the shoulder padding is really nice. But the fifth issue is what killed my interest in this bag. I washed the bag on delicate (in hopes to get rid of the horrible chemical smell), per manufacturer instructions. Cold water. New machine. When I took the bag out, I noticed that the front pocket area had a small rip. I was able to repair, but I don't think I can recommend this bag with all the issues i had with it. I had originally spent lots of $$$$ on a designer diaper bag that I absoluted hated from the first day of actual use. It was big and bulky, but yet I felt like there was never enough room. I absolutely LOVE this diaper bag, it is so much better then the cheap stuff I had received earlier through various friends, and companies. It is really beautiful to look at and the functionality is tremendous. Lots of pockets on the inside, with the regular pockets on the outside, both front and back have pockets as well, for cellphone, chaps stick, coupons, etc. It is very big too, so you can actually fit in a baby blanket, without it over taking the space inside. The inside pockets are useful too. You can organize diapers, and a slim wipe case in them.

My favorite way to use it ofcourse is as a nursing pillow, it is so soft! and huge, that when I'm out and about with my son, I can quickly position him right on the bag for a quick nursing session. I've done this in a bloomingdales bathroom, babies r us, and the back seat of our car. I love this bag and would get one in every color if I could!
